After school Teacher / Site Manager
- After school Teacher – $17.50–$18.85 / hour (Part‑time)
- Part‑time Teacher – $19–$20 / hour
- Part‑time Site Manager – $24–$27 / hour
- Full‑time – part of the team (FTE)
After school Teachers supervise youth in PJA Before and After school programs, providing an environment that supports intellectual, social and emotional development.
Qualifications- High School Diploma or GED;
- Minimum 18 years of age;
- Enrolled in Central Background Registry (Required – get started HERE if not already enrolled);
- 240 hours of qualifying experience in a comparable youth program, OR an AA/BA Degree in child development or education;
- Encourage people of all backgrounds to apply.
- 21 years or older;
- At least one year of experience managing school‑age youth;
- Verifiable knowledge of child development (education transcripts, references, or training certificates);
- Valid driver’s license and reliable insured vehicle for transporting program materials.
- Plan and implement daily, developmentally appropriate curriculum in accordance with PJA After school Department policies and expectations.
- Assist in leading groups of varying sizes independently and as assigned.
- Monitor youth and after school spaces to ensure safety.
- Maintain positive communication with youth.
- Model appropriate problem‑solving behavior, provide first aid as necessary, and implement developmentally appropriate behavior support and safety measures.
- Communicate courteously, collaborate effectively with PJA & PPS staff, parents, students and the public.
- Share responsibility for supervision of all students.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings.
- Inform parents of daily issues and progress while maintaining confidentiality.
- Check and respond to daily & weekly program‑related communications.
- Obtain 15 annual clock hours of professional development through workshops, seminars, trainings and conferences.
- We provide no‑cost training opportunities throughout the year.
Work is performed in an environment that is quite noisy and busy, and may include exposure to biological and environmental conditions including body fluids and waste, germs, and childhood illnesses. May include lifting children or heavy items (up to 50 pounds unassisted), bending, stooping, reaching, standing, climbing and walking. Requires vision and hearing within standard ranges and clear speaking ability.
