Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm (approx.. 8- 12 weeks to cover a leave of absence)

Vermont Hills Family Life Center (VHFLC) is seeking a temporary Preschool Teacher to cover a leave of absence at our mission-driven team rew's ECE Center. This role supports the healthy development of young children by planning and implementing a developmentally appropriate curriculum in a nurturing, safe, and inclusive environment.

As the Lead Preschool Teacher, you will create meaningful learning experiences to foster childrens social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth while maintaining strong partnerships with families and upholding VHFLCs commitment to equity, respect, and high-quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement a play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with Oregons Early Learning and VHFLCs philosophy.
  • Supervise and engage preschool-aged children in activities that promote exploration, discovery, creativity, and problem-solving.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, organized, and welcoming classroom environment that supports childrens autonomy and cooperation.
  • Foster positive relationships with children and families, greeting each child and caregiver warmly and professionally each day.
  • Utilize positive guidance techniques consistent with VHFLCs policies to promote self-regulation and conflict resolution.
  • Ensure health and safety practices are followed, including meal/snack routines, toileting, and maintaining a clean classroom.
  • Complete required documentation, including incident reports, medication logs, and developmental observations.
  • Participate in family conferences and ongoing communication with parents to support each childs growth and familys goals.
  • Work collaboratively with the ECE Site Director and teaching team to reflect on practices and adapt the learning environment to meet the needs of the children.

Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

In alignment with Oregon Early Learning Division (ELD) licensing requirements:

  • At least an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or a related field, OR
  • One year of qualifying teaching experience in a licensed early childhood program with preschool-aged children (minimum 1500 hours).

AND

  • At least a Step 6 in the Oregon Registry (ORO), or the ability to attain it within 30 days of accepting position.

Additionally:

  • Enrollment in the Oregon Central Background Registry.
  • Current Adult & Pediatric First Aid, CPR & AED certification.
  • Current Oregon Food Handlers Card.
  • Completion of required ELD trainings:
    Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect (RRCAN), Introduction to Child Care Health and Safety (ICCHS), Prevention is Better than Treatment (PBtT), Foundations for Learning (FFL), and Safe Sleep for Oregons Infants (SS).

  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit on the floor, kneel, squat, and engage in physical activities indoors and outdoors.
  • Ability to visually and physically monitor children at all times.

Compensation details: 24-29 Hourly Wage
