The Associate Head Coach serves as a senior leader within the Portland State Football program and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of developing and advancing a competitive football program in the Big Sky Conference. This includes, but is not limited to: coaching, recruiting, counseling student‑athletes; managing daily administrative duties of the program; fundraising and public relations; adhering to all rules and regulations of the university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference.
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- Minimum three years collegiate coaching/collegiate competition.
- Demonstrate excellent professional/interpersonal communication skills.
- Demonstrate a commitment to the total welfare of student‑athletes.
- Demonstrate a commitment to developing a successful Division I football program both academically and athletically.
- Master’s degree with five years collegiate coaching experience and/or NFL coaching experience.
- Previous experience as a Defensive Coordinator at the NCAA level.
- Experience mentoring assistant coaches or leading position groups beyond one’s primary assignment.
- Create an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences.
- Function and communicate effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.
- Seek opportunities to gain experience working and collaborating in diverse, multicultural, and inclusive settings with a willingness to change for continual improvement.

Contributes to a culture of environmental stewardship, practices resource conservation, and actively works toward achieving long‑term sustainability goals.
BenefitsSalary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth. The starting annual salary for this position will be between $74,232 – $87,049 but may be negotiated above this rate dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
