The Confidential Advocate position is within the Center for Student Health and Counseling (SHAC) and addresses sexual and gender‑based violence at PSU by providing trauma‑informed support for students. Students receive connections, resources, and campus‑coordinated response efforts at all institutional levels. The advocate offers legally privileged services, including safety planning, academic and housing accommodations, financial aid, accompaniment throughout reporting processes, emotional support, and referrals.
The advocate collaborates with campus and community partners, supports campus change initiatives, and provides direct advocacy services and training for PSU students, faculty, and staff.
This is an in‑person role with no remote work option.
EligibilityIn accordance with the AAUP collective bargaining agreement this position is open only to current PSU AAUP academic professionals (Article 17 Section 11).
Minimum Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 2 years (full‑time equivalency) working directly with survivors of interpersonal/gender‑based violence, providing trauma‑informed care, and working with underserved and marginalized communities or in a counseling‑related field.
- Willingness to obtain the required state‑level certifications for campus advocacy within the first three months of hire.
- Demonstrated understanding of current best practices in responding to interpersonal trauma.
- Must successfully pass a background check.
Bachelor’s degree with 3 years related experience, or Master’s degree with 1 year related experience.

Work Days / HoursMonday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Compensation and BenefitsSalary is $58,596 annually, with potential for growth depending on experience and departmental budget. Benefits include 95 % premium‑paid healthcare, a generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employees, spouses, or dependents at Oregon University System schools.
