Assistant Coach, Football - Corner backs
Portland State University, College of Urban and Public Affairs is seeking an Assistant Coach to assist in developing and advancing a competitive football program in the Big Sky Conference. The role includes coaching, recruiting, counseling student‑athletes, managing daily program administrative duties, fundraising, public relations, and ensuring compliance with university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference rules and regulations.
Responsibilities- Assist in coaching the cornerback position and related defensive units.
- Participate in recruiting efforts and student‑athlete counseling.
- Manage daily administrative duties of the football program.
- Support fundraising and public relations activities.
- Adhere to all university, NCAA, and Big Sky Conference policies and regulations.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Minimum three years of collegiate coaching or collegiate competition experience.
- Excellent professional/interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to the total welfare of student‑athletes.
- Commitment to developing a successful Division I football program both academically and athletically.
- Master’s degree with five years of collegiate coaching experience and/or NFL coaching experience.

- Communicate effectively and respectfully within the context of varying beliefs, behaviors, orientations, identities, and cultural backgrounds.

- Contribute to a culture of environmental stewardship, practice resource conservation, and actively work toward achieving long‑term sustainability goals.
Starting annual salary range: $49,140 – $53,000. Benefits include 95% premium paid healthcare, generous retirement and vacation package, and reduced tuition rates for employee, spouse, or dependent at Oregon University System schools.
