Program Manager, Culinary Workforce Training

Stone Soup PDX is looking for an experienced, organized, and collaborative Program Manager to lead our 12-week Culinary Workforce Training Program.

We're a Portland nonprofit that builds economic stability for people facing barriers to employment through hands-on culinary training and our community meals program.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys leading teams, developing people, building community partnerships, and working in a hands-on learning environment.

About the Role

The Program Manager oversees our culinary workforce training program across two Portland locations, supervises a team of Culinary Instructors, Café Trainers, and workforce development professionals, and ensures the program runs smoothly from recruitment through graduation and employment preparation.

We're looking for a thoughtful, confident leader who combines empathy with accountability, has excellent organizational skills, and enjoys working directly with staff and participants.

Professional culinary experience is essential. Our Program Manager must also be comfortable stepping into the kitchen to teach when needed.

What You'll Do
  • Lead, coach, and support a multidisciplinary Program team.
  • Oversee daily operations, scheduling, and program delivery across two locations.
  • Ensure consistent delivery of our hands-on culinary curriculum and participant assessments.

  • Build partnerships with community organizations, referral agencies, and employers.
  • Oversee program documentation, data tracking, reporting, and budgets.
  • Support a trauma-informed, inclusive learning environment.
  • Facilitate monthly graduation ceremonies and represent Stone Soup in the community.
What We're Looking For
  • At least three years of direct staff supervisory experience.
  • Professional culinary experience in a commercial kitchen or comparable food-service environment.
  • Experience in program management, education, workforce development, or related operations.
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and communication skills.
  • Experience developing community partnerships.
  • Ability to teach and coach adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience with digital record-keeping systems.
  • Commitment to Stone Soup's mission and the people we serve.
  • Valid driver's license.

Experience in workforce development, adult education, or trauma-informed programming is a plus.
