Job DescriptionPosition Overview
As a wind turbine blade repair technician, you will be responsible for the repair and maintenance of wind turbine blades. Blade repair technicians utilize rope access and suspended platforms to complete repair and maintenance scopes. Work from rope access and platforms means many days in an open‑air environment. When inclement weather prohibits in‑air work, time is spent on reports, inspections, and training.
Technicians may also perform other wind turbine repairs that require rope access or non‑rope access work.
- Climb wind turbine towers daily, wear all required safety equipment, and utilize rope access techniques to inspect, maintain, and repair wind turbine blades.
- Understand the electrical and mechanical functions of a wind turbine generator and associated equipment to safely perform lock‑out‑tag‑out (LOTO) duties.
- Use power tools to perform delicate grinding work on composite structures.
- Apply safe work practices when handling chemicals and glass fibers for composite repair.
- Conduct inspections and repairs on wind turbine blades and associated equipment.
- Complete required reporting on repair work, inspections, and other tasks.
- Learn and use software systems to manage work reporting and other company business.
- Maintain company tooling and equipment.
- Work a 40‑plus hour week, subject to scheduled and unscheduled overtime during peak periods.
- Drive safely to work sites with trailer in tow.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to travel up to 100% of the time.
- SPRAT, IRATA, or equivalent rope access certification and/or 3+ years of fiberglass experience.
- Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather, climb ladders without assistance, and work suspended from two rope systems and/or platforms at heights greater than 80 m (250 ft).
- Ability to move and manipulate up to 45 kg (100 lb).
- Weight must not exceed 120 kg (265 lb) excluding equipment when performing job‑related tasks.
- Ability to rappel from a wind turbine.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
- One (1) year of technical experience (mechanical, electrical, composite repair, etc.) and/or technical education.
- SPRAT, IRATA, or equivalent rope access certification.
This is a safety sensitive position. Individuals receiving conditional offers of employment will be subject to drug testing and must receive a negative result to begin working for the company.
Base Pay: $31.67 – $51.58 USD per hour
Bonus: 0% – 10%
The base pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for the position. Invenergy considers various factors when determining base pay offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the role and the candidate’s experience, education, and skills.
