About

The Role

MWH is currently seeking an experienced Quality Control Engineer to support a $2+ billion, four‑year project outside Portland, OR. The project will construct a new green‑field clean‑water filtration facility with a capacity of 135 MGD. The QC Engineer coordinates and implements MWH’s quality management system, ensuring all project work complies with MWH and client standards and meets all specified requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Understand project drawings and specifications to ensure compliance
  • Monitor construction quality and support project staff in day‑to‑day activities applicable to the Quality Management System
  • Assist multiple project teams with developing site‑specific quality plans
  • Coordinate, schedule, perform, and document ongoing quality inspections; verify completed work complies with permits, codes, drawings, and specifications
  • Create piping and equipment testing plans
  • Troubleshoot and provide input into solving engineering and construction technical problems
  • Provide quality expertise and advice in the proactive resolution of compliance issues (codes, standards, specifications, regulations)
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for continuous quality improvement
  • Coach site staff on quality reporting and assist with monitoring trends and recurring issues
  • Maintain relationships with owners, subcontractors, design partners, and stakeholders to support partnership and issue resolution
  • Coordinate project quality training and partnerships
  • Promote a company quality culture through recognition and rewards for positive quality behaviors
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Follow company health and safety guidelines and policies to ensure personal and employee safety
Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in inspection or construction (or equivalent combination of experience, skills, and training)
  • Knowledge of construction equipment, drawings, specifications, building materials, and applicable standards
  • Understanding of quality control programs and ability to assess work‑based specifications
  • Team player, self‑starter, motivated, and detail oriented
  • Excellent organizational skills for recording, tracking, and managing data from multiple disciplines and projects
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for interacting with internal staff, clients, and subcontractors
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate with group leaders and the Regional Director
  • Proficiency in BIM / VDC, 3‑D modeling, drafting, visual scheduling, and collaboration tools, especially the Autodesk suite
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications from leading quality‑management organizations
  • Prior experience with water/wastewater construction
  • On‑site experience with a self‑performing contractor on projects greater than $100 M
Compensation
  • Salary range: $120,000 – $140,000 per year, based on experience
