Structural Engineer – HARDESTY & HANOVER CONSTRUCTION SERVICES, LLC

Portland, OR

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Structural Engineer to join our Portland, OR office. With over 138 years of experience, H&H is a trusted full‑service infrastructure engineering firm. Our clients rely on us for intricate and innovative engineering solutions across all project stages.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed plans and construction documents
  • Perform engineering calculations supporting the detailed plans and construction documents
  • Develop contract specifications, bid documents, and technical reports
  • Occasional field site visits
  • Perform structural tasks under the direction of the Project Engineer and Discipline Lead
  • Perform Project Engineer/Discipline Lead duties as required, contingent on experience
Requirements
  • BS in Civil Engineering, MS in Civil/Structural Engineering (preferred)
  • 5 to 15 years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on bridge design (preferred)
  • Oregon PE (or ability to achieve within 6 months) required; CO, WA, or CA PE or SE considered a significant plus
  • Experience in conceptual, preliminary, and final design for bridge projects following Federal, State, and local standards, especially ODOT and/or WSDOT; experience in CA, WA, or OR is a plus
  • Experience with complex concrete and/or movable bridges is a plus
  • Bridge rating and/or inspection experience is a plus
  • Experience with current AASHTO design specifications, procedures, bridge standards and details, and structural computer models
  • Experience in Micro Station and/or AutoCAD; experience with current Bridge Analysis/Design and FEM software (preferred)
  • Effective teamwork as part of a design team
  • Experience with local client base preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
