Abatement Worker – Eco Safe Abatement (Portland, Oregon)

Position: Abatement Worker
Location: Portland, Oregon
Employment Type: Full-Time

Key Responsibilities
  • Safely remove and dispose of hazardous materials (asbestos, lead, mold, etc.) from buildings and structures in compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local regulations
  • Prepare work areas by setting up containment barriers, ventilation, and decontamination units
  • Use hand and power tools for material removal and site preparation
  • Package and label hazardous waste for transport and disposal.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of abatement processes and waste disposal.
  • Clean and decontaminate work sites, tools, and equipment using HEPA vacuums and approved methods
  • Wear and maintain personal protective equipment (PPE), including respirators, for extended periods
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, safety managers, and project managers to ensure project goals and safety standards are met
  • Perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and other physically demanding tasks
  • Adhere to all company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Valid Worker or Supervisor Certification for asbestos abatement, in accordance with Oregon state and federal regulations
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in abatement (asbestos, lead, or mold removal)
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working in construction or environmental remediation preferred
  • Ability to wear PPE and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and commitment to safety.
Preferred Skills
  • Additional certifications in hazardous materials handling (e.g., OSHA, lead safety, HAZWOPER).
  • Experience with air monitoring and environmental compliance reporting.
  • Familiarity with a variety of abatement projects (residential, commercial, industrial).
