Overview

Ports and Marine Civil/Structural Engineer role at WSP in the U.S. Full-time position with offices in Irvine, San Diego, San Francisco, CA;
Miami, FL;
Portland, OR;
Seattle, WA;
Houston, TX. Join our Ports and Maritime Team to work on projects for port authorities, U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, terminal operators, contractors, and private entities.

Your Impact
  • Perform civil/structural design for marine and upland components under supervision of senior ports and marine engineers
  • Prepare technical written communications in the form of memoranda and reports
  • Support managers in creating plans, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates in accordance with client requirements
  • Collaborate with team to ensure work product meets scope, schedule, cost and quality requirements
  • Perform design calculations in support of broader engineering activities
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams in executing project work
  • Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of site work and code compliance
  • Complete training on assigned tasks
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies
  • Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs
Who You Are

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
  • 3–5 years of relevant post-education experience
  • Familiarity with marine, port, and civil/structural engineering principles and design/build processes
  • Familiar with relevant marine, port, and coastal construction codes, regulations, and compliance practices
  • Analytical mindset with ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic proficiency with technical writing, engineering software, spreadsheets, and related tools
  • Experience with discipline-specific design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit)
  • Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to company policies
  • Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements
Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineer in Training Certification
  • Prior design experience
  • Active participation in local professional practice organizations
  • Experience in design of marine upland facilities
  • Field investigation or construction support experience
  • Hands-on design experience
  • Commercial dive license (ADCI or DCBC) in addition to the above qualifications
Benefits & Compensation

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $77,000
$125,000 per year. WSP provides a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, retirement savings, paid time off, and parental/bereavement leave.
