Responsibilities
  • Plan and conduct condition assessments of piers, wharves, dolphins, and other marine structures, and prepare detailed inspection reports.
  • Lead the structural analysis and design of port and waterfront facilities – such as piers, wharves, dolphins, bulkheads, fender systems, and ferry terminals – in both rehabilitation and new construction projects.
  • Manage marine infrastructure projects from planning through delivery, including scoping, scheduling, and budgeting.
  • Provide technical support during construction, including resolving design issues encountered in the field.
  • Work closely with clients such as port authorities and naval facilities to understand needs and deliver timely solutions.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and CAD designers.
  • Prepare high‑quality engineering documents, calculation packages, technical memos, design criteria, technical specifications, and cost estimates.
Candidate

Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (master’s degree preferred). Active PE license in Washington or Oregon is required; a Structural Engineer license is a plus.
  • 8–12 years of progressive experience in structural engineering of waterfront structures, bridges, or building design.
  • Proficiency in structural analysis and design for marine environments, including concrete, steel, pile/foundation design, and seismic design.
  • Experience with industry‑standard structural software such as SAP
    2000, LPILE, RISA, MathCAD, and AutoCAD or Revit; familiarity with MS Project and spreadsheet analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead engineering tasks and small project teams; skills in scope development, scheduling, budgeting, and risk management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience drafting clear technical reports and presenting engineering concepts to clients.
  • Background in port and coastal infrastructure challenges, including dredging, pier utility systems, and emerging trends such as Offshore Wind foundations.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and proactive; strong leadership qualities to mentor junior staff.
Travel Requirements

This position may require occasional travel to project sites (mostly regional Pacific Northwest) for on‑site inspections and coordination meetings.

The expected salary for this position is $142,000–$173,000 for Washington. Individual pay is determined based on work location, education, experience, and unique skills.
