Ports and Maritime Structural Engineer (Jacobs)
Join Jacobs as a Ports and Maritime Structural Engineer and work on waterfront and transportation projects worldwide. This hybrid role can be based in Washington, Oregon, or Alaska.
Base Pay Range$62,500.00/yr - $/yr
Key Responsibilities- Assist in the design and analysis of marine structures, such as piers, wharves, docks, and seawalls.
- Prepare engineering calculations, drawings, specifications, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with Senior Engineers and Project Managers to develop innovative solutions for complex engineering challenges.
- Conduct site inspections and assessments to evaluate the condition of existing marine structures, perform onsite QA/QC tasks, or perform data collection activities.
- Support the preparation of project proposals, material take-offs, and engineers’ cost estimates.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong interest in marine and waterfront engineering.
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis and design principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and PDF software (Bluebeam, Adobe, etc.).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience drafting design drawings using AutoCAD.
- 1–5 years of internship or co‑op experience in structural engineering.
- Knowledge of port marine and landside infrastructure operations is a plus.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASCE, AISC, ACI, NDS).
- Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) software (SAP
2000, RISA3D, STAAD, LPile, etc.).
