Location

Any location in the United States. Ideally, selected candidates will be near a Jacobs U.S. based office, but we intend to hire the best candidates.

Role

Senior Telecommunications Engineer at Jacobs.

Responsibilities
  • Play a role in the entire design process including preliminary assessments, concept creation, internal and external problem resolution, drawing and specification production, customer and vendor accessibility, being the EoR for designs, providing coverage for project leads, and potentially leading projects depending on bandwidth.
  • Mentor other telecom team members.
  • Lead the BIM designers in preparation of engineering drawings.
  • Create or modify DIV 27 specifications.
  • Conduct site visits.
  • Review technical documents.
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Sign and seal telecommunications design packages.
  • Identify processes to make the department run more efficiently, working with lead engineer and/or department manager.
Qualifications
  • Electrical Engineering or Communication Engineering bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college.
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience actively designing or leading designs for telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of ANSI/TIA, BICSI, NFPA 70 and how it applies to telecommunications structured cabling systems.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam.
  • Self‑motivation to coordinate with other disciplines, project managers and clients.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Familiarity with responding to RFPs.
  • Experience providing quality assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others.
  • Experience with start‑up and commissioning of telecommunications systems.
  • Experience creating budgets and maintaining project schedules.
  • Experience identifying and mitigating company risk.
  • PE license and the ability to obtain multiple PE licenses is required.
Preferred Experience
  • 4 years telecommunications design experience in Data Centers.
  • Experience working on other low‑voltage systems including security, audio/visual, wireless.
  • Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks.
  • Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for controls systems and security systems.
  • Thorough knowledge of CSI or AIA specification writing procedures.
  • Credential as an RCDD.
