We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Hardware Engineering Manager to lead our hardware development team. The ideal candidate has a strong background in hardware engineering, combined with exceptional leadership skills. As the manager, you would be responsible for overseeing the design, development, and delivery of high‑quality hardware products while providing effective guidance to the team. Position Location: Portland, OR
Responsibilities- Serve as a technical leader for development projects.
- Lead and manage a team of hardware and electrical engineers, providing mentorship, guidance, and support throughout the product development lifecycle.
- Manage application support initiatives such as hardware compatibility and custom product requests.
- Define project goals, objectives, and deliverables, ensuring alignment with company and customer requirements.
- Responsible for project schedules, and documentation of work and results including KPIs.
- Drive the hardware development process, including concept development, schematic design, PCB layout, prototyping and testing.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, such as software engineering, manufacturing, and product management to ensure seamless integration and successful product launches.
- Set clear expectations, assign tasks, and prioritize workloads to optimize team productivity and efficiency.
- Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and high‑quality standards within the hardware engineering team.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering or related field
- Minimum five years’ experience as an Engineering Manager
- Experience with project management and working with software teams cross‑functionally
- Hardware design principals, including digital and analog circuitry, schematic capture, PCB layout, and design for manufacturing (DFM), along with typical design input quality tools (e.g. QFD, Design FMEA, DFA, VA/VE).
- Hardware design and analysis tools, such as Solid Works, Altium or similar.
- Product certification processes and standards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations (e.g., UL, CE).
