This role supports manufacturing engineering and factory maintenance staff through involvement in troubleshooting tooling, programming, and/or fixture support. This role is responsible for identifying opportunities for improvement such as improved fixture design, adjusting programs to more efficiently meet expectations, and reduced setup exchange time.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES- Assist in optimizing the performance of products, machinery, and equipment.
- Assist with programming and initial set-up of product through product launch phase.
- Assist with evaluation of repairs needed when equipment requires overhaul to improve performance.
- Design and modify equipment tooling, make required mathematical calculations; prepare schematics and determine supplier needed.
- Periodic monitoring of setup activities to ensure fixtures and tooling continue to perform as expected.
- Support process documentation surrounding mechanical maintenance to reduce machine down time.
- Reduce scrap and rework rates through evaluation of cause.
- Train co-workers on safe and efficient use of machinery and equipment.
- Support the implementation of CI principles, methods and tools, e.g. 6S, standard work, visual management, and others.
- Participate in evaluations for improvements through manufacturing kaizen events.
- Associate's degree plus 3 years of relevant experience; or equivalent combination of experience and education (for example, 5 years relevant experience)
- Experience with mechanical design and solid modeling preferred
- Experience using Solidworks preferred
- Experience with injection molding preferred
- Experience with machining and/or robotics a plus
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as operating and maintenance manuals, blueprints, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or print form.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with cross functional teams, internally and externally.
- Contribute to a positive culture that promotes a collaborative work environment.
- Candidate must be comfortable with a fast paced, rapid change environment and be able to multi-task across projects with excellent organizational skills.
