Position
Purpose:
This position performs electrical/avionics maintenance and manufacturing tasks to aircraft, aircraft parts and components in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and Erickson requirements. Complies with all company policies and Standard Operating Procedures as a team player. Willing and able to work long hours and travel as required to meet company requirements. Provide support to internal and external customers to meet customer requirements.
Levels
- Level 1 (Aircraft Electrician/Avionics Technician I, Pay Grade 16) – Distinguished by routine tasks and duties. Employees may have limited aircraft maintenance and manufacturing experience and receive regular instruction or assistance. One to three years of experience is desirable and may include aviation related schooling or formal training.
- Level 2 (Aircraft Electrician/Avionics Technician II, Pay Grade 228) – Distinguished by full range of duties. Employees receive occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of company Procedures and SOPs. They may mentor Level 1 and foster technical growth. Four to nine years of experience is required.
- Level 3 (Aircraft Electrician/Avionics Technician III, Pay Grade 229) – Distinguished by level of responsibility and complexity of duties. Employees perform the most difficult and responsible types of duties including project management responsibilities when assigned. They are fully trained and aware of all applicable Procedures and SOPs and mentor mechanics and foster technical growth. The employee must hold an Airframe and/or Powerplant license and ten or more years of increasingly responsible experience is required.
- Disassembly, cleaning, inspection, repair, fabrication, manufacturing, maintenance, and assembly of aircraft and aircraft electrical/avionic parts, components and wiring.
- Document work per company, customer and regulatory requirements.
- Install electrical/avionic parts and components to aircraft at the fixed base of operations (FBO) and in the field environment.
- Read, interpret, and comply with Repair Station Quality Manual, Production Certificate Quality Manual, Standard Operation Procedures, Federal Aviation Regulations, Technical Manuals, Drawings, and Specifications.
- Work in a team environment and follow Erickson’s Values Charter.
- Troubleshoot and correct electrical/avionic discrepancies during normal work and Aircraft On Ground (AOG) situations.
- Achieve and maintain task qualifications for all work performed.
- Travel as required to meet company and customer requirements.
- Perform administrative duties e.g., Time entry, DAX, Training classes, create, revise and use department documents, etc.) as required by Erickson company and department requirements.
- Order, receive and return parts in accordance with company policies.
- Maintain an organized work area and good housekeeping practices.
- Perform Lean, Standard work and continuous process improvements.
- Mentor, train, and coach new employees when qualified as a mentor or trainer.
- Perform duties of an Inspector if task qualified. Percentage of time required is different for different Inspectors based on the quantity of areas employee is task qualified to inspect and workload in department.
- Work with hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and products to perform required tasks.
- Use tools, equipment, manuals, drawings and specifications to perform aircraft electrical/avionic maintenance and manufacturing.
- Responsible for the care of precision measuring equipment, tools and test equipment and benches.
- Knowledge of FAA and aviation industry requirements and regulations to perform maintenance and manufacturing of aircraft and aircraft electrical/avionic parts and components.
- Knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and principles.
- Must be able to identify and distinguish colors.
- High School Diploma or equivalency;
Valid Driver’s license. - Level 1: 1‑3 years in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing.
- Level 2: 4‑9 years in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing.
- Level 3: 10+ years in aircraft maintenance and manufacturing and possess an Airframe and/or Power plant license.
- Desired – Airframe and/or Power plant license, FCC license.
- Must be able to communicate verbally in an accurate and professional way; written documents must be clear and concise.
- Work 40 or more hours per week as directed (overtime, weekends, etc.).
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally as directed and drive company vehicles or rental vehicles as directed.
