Cold Formed Steel Contractors Firm
Location:
Portland, Oregon | Salary: $80,000 - $120,000 per year
We are one of the largest and most reputable interior/exterior contracting firms in the Northwest, providing superior contracting services for drywall, metal studs, acoustic ceilings, wall panels, fireproofing, fire stopping, stucco, painting, doors, frames, and related hardware. We are looking for a structural engineer to join our team.
Responsibilities- Work on typical projects: exterior and interior framing, ceilings, and load-bearing struts, typically independently with occasional reviews.
- Communicate directly with internal and external team members, including field staff; attend project meetings with internal and design teams.
- Prepare drawings for shop drawing submittals and collaborate with BIM and drafting teams.
- Prepare calculation packages for submission to project design teams and local jurisdictions.
- Participate in bid reviews and estimating new projects.
- Act as liaison with relevant project professional staff (e.g., Architect of Record, Engineer of Record).
- Monitor and inspect work in progress to verify systems are built per engineered drawings.
- Support field operations by translating structural drawings and specifications for the field team and preparing site drawings.
- Develop knowledge of cold-formed steel or other engineering topics.
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in engineering design.
- Prior knowledge or experience with cold-formed steel framing.
- Effective written and verbal English communication skills.
- Independent judgment, problem-solving ability, self-starting, and ability to prioritize work.
- Ability to recognize priority conflicts and seek guidance for resolution.
- Licensed PE or SE.
- Local to office location or willingness to relocate (relocation assistance provided).
- Experience with prefabrication and modular construction.
