Position Description Summary
APT Research is hiring a System Safety Engineer to support our Starlab Space Station development S&M A contract. This position is in Houston, Texas in support of our Commercial Space Division. Applicants should have knowledge of S&M A disciplines, S&M A processes, and internal/external program interfaces and interactions. Experience with hazard report generation and hazard tracking required. Experience in preparing safety data packages that meet safety review panel criteria is required.
Experience in presenting hazard reports to Safety Review Panel is highly desired.

Thetasks include
- Support design reviews and requirements generation
- Support system hazard analyses/software safety analyses
- Mentor APT and customer safety engineers on safety data package development
- Generate hazard reports and supporting documentation
- Advise the customer in the conduct of safety panels
- Integrate and coordinate with internal S&M A disciplines and engineering/management
- A minimum of 15 years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree, or 13 years with a Master's Degree in science, engineering, applied mathematics, computer science, aeronautics, safety, or a closely related technical discipline.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to communicate well with different levels of management, including presentation skills.
- Ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment and deliver high quality products on schedule.
- Ability to resolve complex problems and develop innovative solutions.
- US Citizenship Required
- Must be able to obtain a Secret level clearance if needed

- Remote work with occasional meeting support at the customer facility in Houston, TX
- Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate, and timely communication, both verbally and written
- Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
- Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
- Ability to lift >15 lbs.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgement
- Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
- Must be able to work in an inclusive and communicative team environment (within both large and small teams), both internal employee's and with customers present
