As an Estimator, you will work with the Commercial Buildings Division (healthcare, higher education, mission critical, and retail). Harder has an immediate need for an experienced architectural sheet metal estimator to join our team in Portland, OR.
What You’ll Be DoingYou will be responsible for reviewing mechanical drawings and performing quantity take-offs for active pursuits and awarded projects. You will be involved from the pursuit stage through project execution, preparing accurate estimates for the operations team in the field. This is an office position and an ideal role for a detail-oriented person.
Estimators At Harder Perform The Following Daily Tasks- Review proposal specifications and preliminary drawings to determine scope of work for estimates and bid preparation
- Use estimating software to complete quantity take-offs
- Coordinate estimates with project team to meet submission deadlines
- Complete final cost estimate of projects through the use of in-house software systems
- Implement estimating best practice and procedures to ensure consistency in estimating deliverables to projects
- Familiarity with estimating process and systems
- Extreme attention to detail
- Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks on an ongoing basis
- Relentless commitment to teamwork and client satisfaction
- Basic computer competency, including Microsoft Office and Bluebeam
- Passion for ongoing learning and keeping up with industry trends
- Interest in LEAN construction principles
- Ability to travel to other regions to gain exposure to additional markets and industries
- 5+ years of estimating and take-off experience with a focus on architectural sheet metal
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred
- Ability to read drawings
