Mechanical Engineer
We are partnering with an innovative renewable energy company that is harnessing the power of the open ocean—Earth’s largest and most power-dense renewable resource—to deliver abundant, affordable clean energy. They are seeking a Lead Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in the design, development, and deployment of the turbo generator within their core technology. This is a hands‑on position where you’ll guide the technical vision while also prototyping, testing, and problem‑solving alongside a world‑class team.

The role is located in Portland, OR. The company is open to a great remote candidate as well!

- Lead the design, development, and integration of the turbo generator system.
- Define and own performance requirements and design goals.
- Design and analyze key components : shafts, housings, bearings, dynamic seals, turbine blades, and stators.
- Select advanced materials and coatings for long‑term marine deployment.
- Collaborate across electromagnetics, controls, fluid dynamics, and marine operations teams.
- Drive manufacturability, offshore assembly, and serviceability in design.
- Lead and participate in design reviews with internal teams and external vendors.
- Oversee documentation, drawings, and tolerance analysis.
- Mentor technicians and guide prototyping, fabrication, and testing.
- Troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis, and iterate designs.
- Utilize high‑end CAD (NX), PDM (Teamcenter), and FEA tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Naval Architecture, or related.
- Extensive experience with rotating machinery (pumps, turbines, compressors, turbochargers, etc.).
- 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling experience.??
