Job Description
Process Engineering Technician:
The position is located in Hillsboro, Oregon and supports process engineering and cleanroom facilities through hands‑on tasks and operation of semiconductor manufacturing equipment. The technician follows detailed instructions, demonstrates strong mechanical aptitude, and independently performs routine tasks while providing status updates to the process engineering team. Continued training may be given to develop specific skills, knowledge, and techniques. The technician interfaces with co‑workers and managers.
Responsibilities
- Partners with Process Engineering team to achieve operational goals, including experiment disposition and maintaining tool operationsli>
- Responsible for performing technical tests and experiments in the plasma etch demonstration lab in support of process engineering development activities.
- Daily activities include a wide range of tasks covering tool operation and data collection using plasma etchers, thin film tools, wafer inspection tools, CD‑SEM, and additional tools as needed.
- Responsible for general cleanroom operations including dispositioning etch requests for maximum efficiency, weekly tool qualifications and SPC reporting, FOUP management, wafer inventory, and demo supply management.
- Perform independent/unassisted tool maintenance as needed, including wet cleans and system changes; manage spares and swap parts inventory.
- Assist in troubleshooting lab equipment and, when required, support the Lab Support team addressing cleanroom facilities issues.
- Act as etch or support tool owner; capable of supporting complex operations (startup/shutdown, recipe setup, tool recovery, etc.).
- Capable of training new resources.
- Help drive procedural improvement with management support.
- Ability to perform an unassisted non‑toxic gas bottle change; provide support for other toxic gas systems work.
- Follow all defined protocol and work a minimum of 8 hrs in a cleanroom environment, wearing cleanroom garments; may include extended periods of standing and sitting.
- Maintain appropriate records and documentation for all work performed.
- Complete assigned training programs.
- Protect and maintain company property (spares inventory, company computers, test equipment, tools, etc.); perform routine audits to ensure appropriate appearance and cleanliness levels are maintained.
- Participate in safety forums and the site safety team as required.
- SCBA certification and annual refresher required.
- Responsible for handling acids, solvents, and compressed gases.
- GED required.
- A 2‑year degree is preferred; candidates with technical experience working with semiconductor facilities equipment and/or semiconductor manufacturing equipment (preferably in etch) will be considered.
Requirements
- Self‑starter and able to work independently.
- Strong technical skills and ability to read electrical schematics, use test equipment, and apply basic math skills associated with electronics.
- Ability to learn, operate, and maintain all lab equipment.
- Strongly driven, self‑motivated, and able to focus on both accuracy and output in a complex work environment.
- Effectively and professionally interact with internal customers, external customers, and vendors; maintain working relationships with supervisors and other employees.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Strong work ethic (on time to work and training, on time completion of assignments, effective teamwork).
- Effectively communicate information to vendors, customers, and managers regarding lab issues, activities, and schedules.
- Adapt to new procedures concerning work in the facility and create and maintain technical documentation.
