Job Summary
Join our Underwriting team where you’ll evaluate insurance risks, make sound business decisions, and help grow our portfolio of long-term, profitable business. You’ll build strong relationships with field partners and producers, provide responsive customer service, and contribute to special projects that support department goals. As you develop your analytical and communication skills, you’ll progress through the underwriting job family with increasing independence and leadership opportunities.
- Analyze and underwrite insurance risks (10–999 life range)
- Build and maintain relationships with producers and internal teams
- Participate in training and mentoring others
- Support departmental projects and initiatives
- Apply underwriting guidelines, procedures, and state regulations
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience in underwriting or a similar analytical role
- Strong decision‑making and negotiation skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a related field
- Experience mentoring or training others
- Familiarity with state insurance statutes and contract provisions
- Willingness to learn and grow within the role
- Strong sense of integrity and sound judgment
- Effective communicator and team collaborator
