Handling multi‑state sales/use tax recovery projects for large, sophisticated organizations takes more than just a technical understanding of current sales and use tax rules. As a Sales and Use Tax Senior in EY’s Sales and Use Tax Lookback Review Center of Excellence (COE), you will build and apply knowledge on a wide range of sales and use tax recovery projects for clients in multiple industries, supported by engaging colleagues and opportunities for career progression.

There is no average day for a Sales and Use Tax Senior. You will work on diverse projects, providing up‑to‑the‑minute tax advice and collaborating closely with colleagues to ensure high quality outcomes.

• Researching clients’ business operations and building long‑lasting relationships
• Identifying applicable sales and use tax exemptions and exclusions
• Communicating potential over‑payment opportunities or risks
• Monitoring current tax law changes to maintain credibility as a trusted advisor
• Developing clear, intelligent plans for sales and use tax recoveries
• Preparing and defending sales and use tax refund claims
• Participating on a motivated team of professionals
• Supervising a motivated team and ensuring they reach full potential

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline
• Professional knowledge in a broad range of sales and use tax processes, concepts and tools
• Proven record of excellence in a professional services or tax organization
• Technical writing and research experience in a tax context
• Ability to prioritize across multiple complex projects
• Strong influencing skills and confidence to question existing processes
• Willingness to travel as needed and work in a balanced hybrid environment

• Achieved or partially achieved CPA qualification, certification as a member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, CMI designation, or ability to sit for a state bar

Comprehensive compensation and benefits package with a base salary range of $81,700 to $135,000 (US nationwide) and $98,100 to $153,500 for major metro areas. Includes medical, dental, pension, 401(k), and paid time off. Flexible hybrid work model with in‑person collaboration 40–60% of the time. Flexible vacation policy and EY Paid Holidays.
