Vp / Director of Finance
Jamie Benway with Robert Half is looking for an experienced VP / Director of Finance to lead the financial operations of our nonprofit organization in Portland, Oregon. The ideal candidate will bring strategic leadership to oversee budgeting, financial planning, and compliance while ensuring the organization's fiscal health. This role requires a collaborative approach to managing a team and maintaining accountability in all financial processes.
Responsibilities- Develop and oversee the annual budget, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
- Lead month-end close processes to guarantee accurate and timely financial reporting.
- Supervise and mentor finance team members, including accountants and other financial staff.
- Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and grant accounting functions effectively.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and nonprofit accounting standards.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Monitor cash flow and financial performance, addressing any discrepancies proactively.
- Oversee audits and prepare necessary documentation to maintain transparency.
- Collaborate with various departments to ensure proper allocation and tracking of funds.
- Implement and maintain financial systems and processes for efficiency and accuracy.
- Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree or CPA preferred.
- Proven experience in senior financial leadership roles, preferably within nonprofit organizations.
- Strong expertise in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Proficiency in managing month-end close processes and financial reporting.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to guide and develop a financial team.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills to present financial information clearly to stakeholders.
