Position DetailsThis role is a .9 FTE that requires working three 12‑hour shifts a week. Weekends and holidays may be included in the schedule.
Job SummaryAssists the Registered Nurse (RN) and physician with assessments, examinations, treatments, and technical duties under RN supervision. Performs essential functions of the Unit Secretary.
Job Requirements- High School Education/GED or equivalent:
Required - Associate’s/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education and related experience:
Preferred - Previous experience working in an ED or as an EMT:
Preferred
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification:
Preferred - Basic Life Support (BLS, HS‑BLS, or RQIBLS) Certification:
Required - Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Medical Assistant (CMA), or Paramedic Certification:
Preferred - Phlebotomist Technician License:
Preferred
- Assists the RN and physician with assessments, examinations, and treatments. Documents patient care performed, including vital signs, bedside care, and observations.
- Maintains readiness by ensuring equipment and supplies are appropriate to the position. Assists in cost containment through the appropriate ordering and conservation of supplies and equipment.
- Prioritizes patient care and departmental needs, sets goals, and organizes time to meet daily demands of nursing care. Observes, documents, and reports patient condition and changes to the RN, MD/Provider.
- Provides patient and family education within scope of practice.
- Records and collects specimens, where applicable.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
