Job Summary
Under direct supervision, operates CT scanners and other radiographic equipment to produce high‑quality diagnostic images. Performs all duties, including clerical work as needed, in a manner that promotes teamwork and reflects the KPNW mission and philosophy.
Essential Responsibilities- Perform diagnostic procedures—routine, emergent, biopsy, and special examinations—in accordance with department policies and procedures; communicate necessary information to health‑care team members and provide patient‑focused communication, including procedure explanations and answering questions; apply ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure.
- Maintain file work, reception, and computer functions including PACs; administer contrast media as directed and according to policies; protocol exams per departmental directives; assist with screening patients for contraindications.
- Perform quality‑assurance functions, troubleshoot equipment, and restock supplies and clean the assigned room; maintain overall order and cleanliness.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, assist with patient transport, report equipment malfunctions promptly, and participate in on‑call or standby schedules as assigned.
- Minimum one (1) year experience as a CT technologist within the past two years, or minimum six (6) months experience in an acute hospital setting within the last year.
- Current KP Coalition employees are exempt from the experience requirement per the National Agreement.
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist License (Oregon) required at hire, or Certified Radiologic Technologist (Washington) required at hire.
- American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate – Computed Tomography required at hire.
- Radiologic Technologist Certification required at hire from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Basic Life Support certification within one month of hire.
- Proof of continuing education.
- Mandatory infection‑control education and training annually; knowledge and skills in infection control evaluated annually per KPNW policy.
- Demonstrate customer‑focused service skills.
- Use excellent communication and interpersonal skills with peers and administration.
- Perform all functions at a high level of competence without direct supervision.
- Obtain IV certification annually.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
- Prior CT work experience using helical and/or multi‑detector technology.
- Attendance at CT and cross‑sectional anatomy courses.
- Strong organizational skills, time management, prioritization, planning, attention to detail, problem solving, decision making, judgment, technical skills, initiative, communication, interpersonal skills, customer relations, adaptability, and flexibility.
- Knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy.
- Knowledge of policies and procedures.
- Associate’s degree or higher in Radiologic Science or related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Radiologic Science.
- Support operations for Radiation Therapy CT scanner in IROC and Nuc Med PET scanner in South Interstate as coverage for contrast exams permits.
