The Nursing Director is a Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for upholding excellence in nursing care through the implementation of the Professional Practice Model. The Director manages operational, human resource, quality, and financial aspects of the department and leads nursing practice.
The Director collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to translate and implement organizational priorities, leads quality and safety initiatives, and ensures adherence to hospital and clinical standards.
Strategic Planning- Partners with others to develop a department strategic plan aligned with the division’s strategic plan.
- Collaboratively formulates department objectives, goals and strategies.
- Develops short- and long-term goals and coordinates implementation of interventions.
- Communicates, implements, and evaluates the care area strategic plan.
- Enhances healthcare and patient care through interdisciplinary activities such as education and research.
- Applies systems theory to understand how parts of a system relate to the overall system.
- Maintains knowledge of current nursing practice and roles of care team members.
- Evaluates staff competency and intervenes to optimize performance.
- Leads and practices patient/family advocacy and promotes patient-centered decisions.
- Maintains visibility and open communication with staff and leadership.
