Practice Manager
Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Practice Manager to oversee operations for the Family Medicine Community Health Center (CHC) in East Portland. The Manager will ensure quality care, continuous patient access, and efficient use of resources for a panel of over 8,000 primary care patients.
Base Pay Range$77,168 – $123,282 per year (actual pay based on skills and experience).
Key Responsibilities- Clinical Practice Management – Develop, maintain, and implement practice policies and procedures; lead quality improvement initiatives; monitor patient flow and outcomes; oversee inventory and supplies.
- Personnel Management – Supervise clinical support supervisors, front‑office staff, RN’s, and behavioral health staff; hire, evaluate, counsel, and dismiss personnel; conduct staff meetings and training.
- Administrative Functions – Lead budgeting and financial oversight; assist with grant budgets, cost reports, and strategic planning; coordinate billing and revenue optimization; ensure compliance with regulations (DNV, CLIA, VFC).
- Lead patient‑centered primary care home (PCPCH) initiatives; develop performance targets and quality metrics; promote community outreach programs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with community health center leadership, medical directors, and OHSU system leaders.
- On‑call 24/7 for clinic and safety issues; clinic open Monday‑Friday 8‑8 a.m., Saturday 9 a.m.–1 p.m.
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 3 years of supervisory experience in healthcare or clinical settings.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse patients, staff, and providers.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Timely follow‑up and ability to develop and mentor teams.
- Experience managing projects and teams in matrixed organizations.
- High‑volume ambulatory care patient flow and primary care operations.
- Quality improvement strategies, Lean principles, or related methodologies.
- Budgeting, purchasing, and payroll experience.
- Experience with Federally Qualified Health Centers and patient‑centered medical home models.
- Familiarity with Epic electronic medical records.
- Practice Management or Project Management Professional certification.
General work hours:
Monday‑Friday 8‑5 a.m.; weekend and evening work may be required. Flexibility to achieve position outcomes is essential. Some travel is required. The role involves sitting for at least three hours at a time; moderate computer and phone use; ability to lift 25 lbs.
