PEER COUNSELOR - PARENT PARTNER OPPORTUNITY

(Internal title: Certified Peer Counselor)

Catholic Community Services, Family Behavioral Health is looking for a Peer Counselor (Parent Partner) who wants to join our team of innovators who continually  push the envelope  and challenges traditional thinking in Behavioral Health.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Starting Pay Range: $25.18- $27.07 per hour
Ability to Earn Additional Pay for
  • Additional Pay based on performance
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English
    : $100
    -200 per pay period (2 times per month) for service provision in support the families we serve. Tiered language stipend based on language proficiency and youth and family needs.

Responsibilities
  • Provide non-judgmental, unconditional positively support families and youth.
  • Customize helping approaches to fit families and youth uniqueness, personality, culture and interest.
  • Dialogue with referred parents and relate personal experience as a parent that will further assist in building trust with the family.
  • Reach agreement with parents about activities that will contribute to healing and support and assist in communicating that to others.
  • Review and analyze the team plan and make suggestions for improvements/modifications that improve parent participation.
  • Assist the parent in analyzing team progress toward vision and goals and encourage their feedback to the team.

Emphasis is on achieving incredible outcomes with children, youth and families by actively partnering with them along with their natural and community services and supports to achieve long term safety and stability in our neighborhoods and communities.

This position will be based out of the FBH Portland office. This position requires scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of youth and families served. The services we offer will be provided in community-based settings and in family homes.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Age 21 or older.
  • Personal (lived) experience as a parent of a child who has been or is receiving community / mental health services within the past ten years.
  • Bilingual fluency in Spanish and English – highly desired
  • Ability to drive to our family homes within the community with reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, and current automobile insurance with an acceptable driving record per CCS policy.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
  • Ability to visually assess safety within family homes and in the community.
  • Availability to flex some work hours.
  • Demonstrate the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi-cultural situations.
  • Applicant must successfully pass required background clearances prior to an offer of employment.
