Catholic Community Services, Family Behavioral Health is looking for a Peer Counselor (Youth Partner) to join our team of innovators who explore and develop new approaches and implement novel strategies. What We Offer- Excellent starting pay range: $25.18 - $27.07 per hour

Peer Counselors (Youth Partners) are individuals with a personal history as a youth/child who has been a recipient of behavioral health, child welfare, complex medical coordination or juvenile justice services. They use that personal experience to build support with families. Successful applicants must have first‑person experience as a youth who received system services and be prepared to disclose their personal experiences with youth, parents, and others.
Job SummaryPeer Counselor (Youth Partners) collaborates, provides support, and helps facilitate services for youth and their families receiving Family Behavioral Health Services. Working as a member of a team, the Youth Partner helps a youth voice their own perspective and ensures that other team members understand and use that perspective in treatment planning. This position helps youth, parents, and families achieve confidence in their abilities to team on a recovery journey and maintain hope for their success after formal behavioral health services have been completed.
Emphasis is on achieving incredible outcomes with children, youth and families by actively partnering with them along with their natural and community services and supports to achieve long‑term safety and stability in our neighborhoods and communities. The role will be based out of the FBH Portland site and requires scheduling flexibility to meet the needs of youth and families served.
Services are provided in community-based settings and family homes.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Age 21 or older.
- Personal (lived) experience as a child who has received community/mental health services within the past ten years.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Demonstrates the necessary attitudes, knowledge and skills to deliver culturally competent services and work effectively in multi‑cultural situations.
- Preference for a flexible schedule rather than a traditional, fixed 8‑5, Monday through Friday, facility‑based position.
- Must be able to drive to youth and family homes and in the community, have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, automobile insurance and provide current auto registration per CCS policy.
