Seeking a Workplace Systems Engineer II
This mid-level role focuses on administering core workplace services and supporting infrastructure projects. It requires hands‑on experience with collaboration platforms, mobility tools, virtualization, and network services. Key responsibilities include managing endpoints, enforcing security and compliance standards, and contributing to project delivery. The role also involves resolving hardware and software issues, evaluating vendor solutions, recommending IT policies, and prioritizing service requests and system enhancements.
Strong scripting, project management, and cross‑team collaboration skills are essential.
- Develop and maintain IT workstation systems and mobile solutions using Microsoft Office 365
- Collaborate globally within an internal workplace team and with external service providers
- Monitor service delivery reports and initiate corrective actions or service changes
- Create and maintain system design documentation, procedures, runbooks, and self‑service guides
- Plan and execute OS and software installations, upgrades, and contingency plans
- Administer Linux/Windows systems including configuration, patching, access controls, performance tuning, and backup/DR readiness
- Manage endpoint lifecycle including imaging, baselines, packaging, patching, and virtual desktop support
- Administer user accounts, printers, directories, and file systems to ensure system integrity
- Ensure integrity and consistency of system backups and recovery procedures
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, OS, Linux, and endpoint issues
- Implement containerization strategies and modern release practices (build, promote, rollback, verification)
- Operate within change, incident, and problem management processes while ensuring security and compliance
- Monitor system performance and capacity; recommend improvements and high‑availability patterns
- Investigate and evaluate new and emerging IT technologies and vendors
- Provide technical support to developers, DBAs, and application teams
- Mentor and train team members and support personnel; share knowledge and experience
- Participate in project teams and integrate activities to meet project goals
- Prepare capital project recommendations and implementation plans for committee review
- Participate in special projects and other duties as assigned
- Travel out‑of‑area for training and user groups as necessary
Position Requirements
Requires a Bachelors or higher degree in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or similar programs, or equivalent certifications with practical experience with 2-4 years in Systems Administration and a minimum 2 years in infrastructure/network discovery, design, build, and migration. The ideal candidate should have mid‑level expertise in computer hardware and operating systems, a solid understanding of networking protocols and enterprise‑grade devices, and experience with programming and scripting for automation.
Proficiency in project management methodologies is essential, along with the flexibility to participate in on‑call rotations, provide off‑hours support, and travel internationally as needed. Professional experience in at least three areas:
Collaboration Technologies (O365, Cisco Web Ex), Mobility Technologies (Intune, zScaler), Single Sign‑On (Microsoft), Core Workplace Services (Windows XP–11, AD, DNS, DHCP, File Services, SharePoint, SCCM/Adaptiva), Virtualization (VMware, Citrix)
