Engineering Manager (Hands-On)

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager (Hands-On) to lead a small team (up to 10 engineers) while contributing directly as a senior developer. This is a “player/coach” role that is perfect for someone who wants to write code, mentor engineers, and drive high‑quality delivery.

- Lead day‑to‑day operations of engineering squads, ensuring delivery aligns with business priorities and timelines.
- Contribute production code, guide system architecture and ensure engineering best practices across codebases and deployments.
- Collaborate with product and design leaders to define scope, roadmap, and feature prioritization.
- Drive execution across cycles, backlogs, and releases using tools like Linear and Monday.
- Innovate through the use of Gen AI in the development process to increase productivity and speed.
- Facilitate sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and stakeholder updates to ensure transparency and alignment.
- Coach and mentor software engineers, fostering growth in technical depth, product thinking, and delivery habits.
- Build a team culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Champion performance, reliability, and scalability in application design and infrastructure.
- Partner with QA, Dev Ops, and security to integrate testing, monitoring, and compliance into development workflows.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 7+ years of software development experience, with 2+ years in a leadership, delivery, or engineering management role.
- Proven ability to lead agile teams, deliver complex projects in fast‑paced environments, and balance IC work with managing agile teams.
- Strong coding skills in PHP (Symfony/Laravel), MySQL/Postgres, React/Next.js, Type Script.
- Strong understanding of full‑stack development, CI/CD practices, and cloud‑based architectures (AWS preferred).
- Excellent project management skills with experience driving technical roadmaps to completion.
- Exceptional communication, stakeholder alignment, and people leadership abilities.
- Bonus:
Experience in hospitality, travel, eCommerce, or platform‑based SaaS environments.
