Position: TEMPORARY CLIENT INTERPRETER, PLAZA OFFICE

Client Interpreter – Temporary (Plaza Office) Position Details

Title: Client Interpreter – Temporary

Reports to: Lead Client Facilitator

Department / Program: MFS Cash Oregon

Location: 919 NE 19th Ave, Ste. 200, Portland, OR 97232

FTE: 16–32 Hours per week

Status: Non‑exempt

Created: October 2025

Duration: January 2026 – April 2026

Availability: Wednesday through Sunday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm and Monday 11:30 pm – 8:00 pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide Spanish interpretation services in client reception and during tax return preparation.
  • Assist clients in completing required documents and intake information.
  • Support volunteer tax preparers by ensuring clients who speak Spanish only understand information.
  • Perform data entry support as directed.
  • Offer resources and referrals, and provide appropriate Spanish‑language literature.
  • Assist clients through the intake process, set up appointments, and answer phone calls.
  • Staff and support other tax sites when needed.
Qualifications
  • Fluency in English and Spanish (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Experience providing interpretation services is advantageous.
  • Excellent customer‑service skills and experience working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to maintain confidential and sensitive information.
  • Team‑dependent, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong time‑management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to scheduled hours throughout the assignment.
  • Computer literacy:
    Microsoft Office, Google Suite, internet.
  • High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience working with Latino communities.
  • Valid driver’s license, auto liability insurance, and clean driving record for travel within the Portland Metropolitan area.
Background Check

MFS requires all employees and volunteers to complete a criminal background check, including a fingerprint background check. Results are reviewed individually and considered during the hiring process.

Work Environment

The role is performed in person at the Gresham office location; occasional early‑morning, weekend or evening work may be required. Regular use of computer, telephone, fax machine, scanner, copier and occasional stairs is expected.
