OverviewTRC is seeking a motivated and dynamic Energy Coach II to support the Energy Trust of Oregon Commercial Buildings Program. This role helps local commercial facilities improve energy efficiency through Strategic Energy Management (SEM) practices. Based in Portland, the Energy Coach will guide participants through a continuous improvement cycle to identify, implement, and sustain energy‑saving opportunities.
The ideal candidate is personable, process-driven, and skilled at managing multiple priorities within a structured program. Reporting to the Program Director, this role works closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure participant success.
Strong communication, coordination, and an understanding of commercial business systems and decision‑making processes are essential. The Energy Coach will help build and support cross‑functional teams, driving cultural and operational change toward long‑term efficiency.
Experience in energy efficiency, culture change, or SEM programs is highly valued. A passion for sustainability and the ability to inspire and motivate teams are key to success in this role.
Responsibilities- Motivate and coach energy teams, facility leaders, and key stakeholders to implement Strategic Energy Management (SEM) practices and foster a culture of continuous improvement through operational process enhancements.
- Guide participants in developing and executing tailored continuous improvement plans that align with energy efficiency goals and organizational objectives.
- Facilitate engaging training workshops, on‑site sessions, and one‑on‑one coaching to build participant knowledge, inspire change, and support long‑term behavioral and operational transformation.
- Conduct monthly coaching calls and regular check‑ins to assess progress, address challenges, and provide actionable feedback on SEM implementation efforts.
- Communicate energy‑saving opportunities effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences, including presenting findings from site walk‑throughs and assessments.
- Coordinate with internal program teams—such as operations, engineering, outreach, and management—to ensure alignment on goals, track milestones, and report on participant progress and overall program performance.
- Maintain organized records of participant activities, performance metrics, and key deliverables; contribute to program‑wide planning, resource development, and quality assurance to support continuous improvement of the overall initiative.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field such as business management, engineering, or information technology.
- 5+ years of experience in project management, energy consulting, training, or related fields with a focus on process improvement and leadership.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with a commitment to excellent customer service and team collaboration.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs using adult learning and change management principles.
- Skilled in cross‑functional collaboration and relationship‑building across all organizational levels.
