Mission
To operate all types of mold machines within department and specialize in the operation of these machines to produce complex and/or heavy wax pattern, soluble and gating parts. To inspect, and ensure quality and dimensional integrity and adhere to P.C.P’s/S.O.P’s guidelines. To work with limited supervision.
Principal Accountabilities- Tooling Preparation: Accurately prepare tooling dies for operation.
- Assemble, disassemble, prepare and position tooling dies for operation; change, add, remove multiple inserts to produce large, complex parts.
- Add chills and solubles per Technique Cards.
- Work with part engineers and others to develop, test and introduce new and re‑designed tooling, methods and techniques into the production process.
- Determine molding sequence to meet production schedule, ensuring time and trained coverage for completion of mold and availability of necessary chills and solubles.
- Remove, clean and store tooling after operation.
- Perform minor repairs on tooling and machines as required.
- Set up, monitor and control mold machine functions.
- Keep dies and/or inserts clean during molding machine operations.
- Remove wax parts from die, inspect for defects, and trim.
- Place on proper fixtures to maintain dimensional integrity of parts.
- Maintain proper wax supplies for mold machine operation.
- Ensure appropriate types of chillers and solubles are produced and available for complex molds; order and produce them if necessary.
- Initiate and implement corrective action to resolve quality and tooling problems; develop and assist in tech card creation.
- Complete logs and records; document all process modifications.
- Evaluate and maintain department supply inventory.
- Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
- Safely operate all equipment and tools.
- Identify and report safety problems.
- Develop methods to lift large/heavy inserts and wax patterns without damaging tooling or mold using hoists and/or assistance from other operators.
- Routinely train less skilled operators as assigned.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
- May be required to complete annual hazardous waste training, handle hazardous waste, complete weekly inspections, or manage areas that generate or handle hazardous waste.

- Side cutters and/or knives.

- Training provided on the job.
- Must complete PCC’s Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training.
- May be required to complete Hazardous Waste Management Training.
- Skill in wax molding operations and demonstrated 18–24 months of competent performance as Mold Machine Operator A duties, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards, load cards and other special instructions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
- Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
- Written language skills required.
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
