To remove soluble wax used to create appropriate cavities in patterns; to dissolve wax with acids.

• Pattern Preparation

Objective: prepare patterns for removal of soluble wax by the leaching process.

• Inspect pattern.
• Seal all open chills using hot pencils.
• Load and unload leaching fixtures as needed.
• Leaching – soluble wax removal.
• Operate pumping system to mix chemicals in leach tank.
• Place patterns in leach tank for appropriate time periods.
• Remove patterns following cycle.
• Inspect removed pattern for residue, defects and breakage using lights, mirrors and other hand‑held tools.
• Maintain fluid levels in tanks.
• Record pH levels of fluids.li>
• Neutralize acids for disposal.
• Housekeeping and Storage: maintain a safe work environment, using proper storage and handling techniques for chemicals used in leaching process.
• Store chemicals using established techniques.
• May be required to handle hazardous waste.
• Cleans work areas and equipment.
• Cleans other areas in wax department as needed.
• Record keeping: completes logs and records of parts and tank activities.
• Adhere to plant and department safety rules.
• Safely operate all equipment and tools.
• Safely handle, store and dispose of chemicals.
• Identify and report safety problems.
• Meet all production and quality standards.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

• Fork lift (LSBO and TBO only)

• Training is provided on the job.
• PCCs Forklift Driving Safety Certification Training must be completed (LSBO and TBO only).
• May be required to complete hazardous waste management training.

• Ability to read, interpret and follow specifications on Technique Cards and other special instructions.
• Ability to work alone with limited supervision.
• Physical ability to perform the essential job functions.
