Precision Machinist – Oregon Tool

Location:

Portland, OR

Hourly Rate:
Up to $40/hr

Shift: Monday – Friday, 7:30 am – 4:00 pm

How You Make an Impact

The successful candidate will support precision tooling and machine components using Prototrak machinery, OD/, jig grinders, jig bore, wire EDM, conventional EDM and surface grinders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and operate jig bore, jig grind, OD/, surface grind, Prototrak and CNC equipment to produce high-tolerance components per specifications.
  • Perform drilling, grinding, boring, reaming and milling of tool steels and carbide parts.
  • Utilize precision measuring tools (dial indicators, bore gauges, micrometers, comparators) to ensure component accuracy.
  • Perform daily machine maintenance: lubrication, wheel dressing, truing, cleaning; set up machines for optimal performance.
  • Program and edit CNC and wire EDM machines using CAM software (e.g., Esprit); troubleshoot, generate quotes and optimize machining strategies.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited precision machining apprenticeship preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years in a precision machining environment with expertise in wire EDM and grinding of tool steels and carbide.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, ability to work with close tolerances; familiarity with data/labor entry systems.
  • Effective communication skills and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning, flexibility, customer focus, quality and teamwork.

  • Monday – Friday
  • 7:30 am – 4:00 pm
