Legacy Talent Search is currently seeking candidates for a Heavy Industrial Fabricator role in Portland. Key Responsibilities:- Fabricate, assemble, and repair heavy industrial components, structures, and equipment using advanced fabrication techniques.
- Read and interpret complex blueprints, technical drawings, and weld symbols to complete projects accurately.
- Perform precision layout, cutting, forming, fitting, and welding of steel, alloys, and other heavy materials.
- Use manual and powered fabrication equipment, including brakes, shears, saws, torches, and grinders.
- Safely operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and rigging equipment to move and position large materials and assemblies.
- Perform quality checks to verify accuracy, tolerances, and overall structural integrity.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to develop efficient fabrication methods and resolve design challenges.
- Train and mentor less experienced fabricators, sharing best practices in heavy industrial techniques.
- Adhere to strict safety standards and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; trade school or technical certifications in welding/fabrication strongly preferred.
- 10+ years of fabrication experience in heavy industrial or large-scale manufacturing environments.
- Advanced welding skills (MIG, TIG, Stick, Flux Core) with the ability to pass structural welding tests.
- Proven experience working with large, heavy-gauge materials and complex assemblies.
- Strong understanding of fabrication math, tolerances, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and welding/fabrication symbols.
- Proficiency in using fabrication tools, machinery, and measuring equipment.
- Rigging and overhead crane experience required.
- Strong attention to detail, safety, and quality.
