Job SummaryCreates an environment where front line nurses and ancillary staff provide whole‑person care that is safe, complication‑free, and optimizes functional independence for each patient. Maintains a highly visible presence on the unit, collaborates closely with staff, charge nurses, physicians, and other department leaders to ensure clinical operations are efficient and effective, and achieves high patient, family, and staff satisfaction. Supervises and directs the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel, schedules and coordinates daily activities of a defined unit on an assigned shift, and assists leadership in accomplishing unit and organizational goals.
Job Requirements- BSN or equivalent combination of education/related experience – Required
- MSN – Preferred
- Five years’ RN – Preferred
- One year of RN leadership experience – Preferred
- Two years’ experience of acute care nursing in a hospital setting – Preferred
- Previous RN experience working in L&D – Preferred
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in the state of Oregon – Required
- Basic Life Support (BLS OR HS‑BLS OR RQIBLS) certification – Required
- National specialty certification in area of expertise or in nursing administration – Preferred
- Builds a high‑performing clinical work team by recruiting and retaining skilled professional staff, establishing a strong infrastructure with designated charge nurses and unit champions, engaging staff in developing action plans, completing evaluations, coaching and disciplining personnel, monitoring attendance, and collaborating on educational needs.
- Sets and strives to achieve goals for patient safety, quality of care, and compliance with regulatory requirements, creating an open‑communication culture and developing strategies to improve patient, family, and physician satisfaction.
- Conducts daily rounds with physicians and other staff, actively communicates to coordinate appropriate care, directs personnel in patient care activities, and investigates and resolves patient care and operational issues.
- Assesses personnel requirements daily, requests additional staff when necessary, authorizes overtime, and completes the monthly unit staff schedule accurately and on time.
- Facilitates throughput through early discharge, pull‑ahead beds, timely admissions/transfer, and forecasting admissions; works with facility services to maintain equipment and prevent complications of care.
- Performs other job‑related duties as assigned.
