American Traveler is hiring an experienced Labor & Delivery RN for a high-risk OB unit requiring an active Oregon RN license and at least 2 years of recent L&D experience.
Details- Work in the Labor and Delivery unit of a short-term acute care hospital with 418 staffed beds
- Facility averages 200-300 births per month
- Care for high-risk OB, postpartum, and high-risk antepartum patients with potential float to those units
- Patient ratios of 1:1 and 1:3 depending on acuity
- Evening (3x12, 3pm-3am) or Night (3x12, 3am-3pm) shifts, with alternate start times of 11am/11pm also possible
- Primarily scheduled on either days or nights with advance notice given for any shift changes
- Every other weekend required
- On-call required if a shift is cancelled
- 48-hour work weeks approved
- Floating to sister facilities within the health system may be required based on skill set and needs
- Uses Epic for charting
- Active Oregon RN license (compact license must be in hand at time of submission)
- BLS and NRP certification required; AWHONN Intermediate certification preferred
- Minimum 2 years of recent Labor and Delivery experience required
- Epic EMR experience required
- Experience with high-risk delivery, vaginal delivery, and C-section circulation
- Experience starting and maintaining IVs, administering blood products, and using infusion pumps preferred
- Experience with medications such as Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and antiseizure drugs
- Experience with neonatal care in the delivery room, including APGAR scoring and newborn resuscitation
- Experience with fetal monitoring and recognition of abnormal fetal heart rate patterns
- Experience with postpartum care including hemorrhage management and cesarean section recovery
- Must provide two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years in a comparable specialty
- Must have reliable personal vehicle for this assignment
- Provide direct patient care across Labor and Delivery, Antepartum, High-Risk Antepartum, and Postpartum units as needed
- Scrubs provided for L&D staff; any color scrub accepted facility-wide
- No parking fees at this facility
- Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
- All time-off requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer requests may not be accommodated
- Former permanent employees must wait at least 3 months before returning as a traveler and must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
- First-time travelers will be considered for this position
- Facility does not accept candidates with Nursys or background check hits
- May be required to float to sister facilities across the region based on patient care needs
