Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg Oncology RN with ONS chemotherapy/biotherapy certification for a day-shift chemo unit role requiring at least one year of experience.

Details
  • Inpatient Medical/Surgical Oncology unit within a short-term acute care hospital
  • 1:4 patient ratios
  • Day shift, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00-19:00)
  • Block scheduling required
  • Every other weekend required
  • Floating to other units and sister facilities based on skill set may be required
  • No on-call requirements
  • Uses Epic EMR
Requirements
  • Active RN license (Compact must be in hand at submission)
  • BLS certification required
  • ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification required
  • Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
  • Experience with Autologous Stem Cell Transplant and CAR-T therapy patients preferred
  • Skilled in IV therapy, port access/management, and central line care
  • Experience administering chemotherapy via IV push, continuous infusion, and oral routes
  • Able to recognize and manage oncologic emergencies (e.g., tumor lysis syndrome, anaphylaxis, extravasation)
  • Knowledge of cytotoxic spill management and body fluid handling post-chemotherapy
  • Experience with symptom management related to chemotherapy side effects
  • Must have reliable personal vehicle for this assignment
Additional Information
  • Provide direct care to oncology patients receiving chemotherapy, biotherapy, and related treatments
  • Administer medications including antiemetics, corticosteroids, antibiotics, and hormonal therapies
  • Support patients through pain management, including IV push narcotics and PCA pump management
  • Provide patient and family education and psychosocial support
  • Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve, New Year's Day)
  • All RTO requests must be submitted up front; post-offer RTO changes may not be accommodated
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Previous Providence employees may return after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
  • Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate
  • Candidates must reside within a 50-mile radius unless applying as a local candidate
  • Two supervisory references covering at least 1 year of experience within the last 3 years are required
  • Scrub colors are flexible, with the exception of OR/L&D, which provides scrubs
