Student Research Assistant (Master’s or PhD student)
Term:
Winter–Spring 2026 (10–15 hours/week)
Schedule:
Flexible hours (flextime), coordinated with project milestones and brief check-ins
Compensation: $20/hour

Project Focus:
Scoping review on abortion-related complications and the implications for safety and measurement
This position supports a scoping review examining abortion-related complications and how these outcomes are defined, measured, and interpreted in the context of safety and measurement practices. The work will contribute to a structured evidence table and manuscript-ready outputs.
Key ResponsibilitiesYou will work closely with PI Laura Jacobson and a research librarian to:
- Support scoping review planning, workflow, and documentation
- Assist with citation management, and study screening (title/abstract and full text)
- Conduct data extraction using structured templates and quality checks
- Serve as a thought partner to identify themes, gaps, and measurement issues in the literature
- Provide writing support (methods/results drafts, tables, summaries, revisions) toward dissemination and publication
- Training in scoping review methodology and best practices
- Mentorship and feedback on research writing and synthesis
- Opportunity to contribute to scholarly outputs/publication
- Current Master’s or PhD student
- Interest in reproductive health, rights, and justice
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to careful documentation
- Comfort working with spreadsheets and structured templates for data extraction
Ability to work independently, manage tasks, and meet agreed upon deadlines
- Familiarity with scoping/systematic review workflows (screening, extraction, PRISMA-style documentation)
- Experience with reference managers (e.g., Zotero, End Note)
- Academic writing or editing experience
