Chemist – Gas Chromatography
We are seeking a dedicated Chemist specializing in Gas Chromatography to provide accurate analytical services and results. The role involves performing routine extraction, chemical isolation, and sample clean‑up using various techniques. This position requires the operation of laboratory equipment such as blenders, nitrogen- and roto-evaporators, shakers, pH meters, and centrifuges.
Responsibilities- Perform routine extraction, chemical isolation, and sample clean‑up using blending, shaking, Soxhlet extraction, digestion, SPE, distillation/condensation, liquid-liquid partitioning, and chemical derivatization.
- Operate laboratory apparatus including blenders, nitrogen- and roto-evaporators, shakers, pH meters, and centrifuges.
- Independently document and prepare reagents and analytical working standards according to current SOPs.
- Extract samples and prepare reagents according to documented methods and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Proficiency in gas chromatography, GCMS, and mass spectrometry.
- Experience with Tandem Mass Spectrometry and Gas Chromatography Reaction Monitoring.
- Knowledge of Agilent and Mass hunter software.
- Expertise in sample preparation and extraction techniques.
- Familiarity with chromatographic separation and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science from a four‑year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in inorganic and analytical chemistry.
- Troubleshooting skills in GC analysis.
- Ability to work with laboratory equipment such as balances and pipettes.
The role is based in a laboratory setting, utilizing general laboratory equipment and technologies. Employees enjoy designated free parking downtown.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of Portland, OR.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52,000.00 – $52,000.00/yr.
