HVAC Journeyman

Daikin Applied is seeking a full‑time HVAC Journeyman. In this role, you will diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on commercial and industrial HVAC equipment, including rooftop units, split systems, chillers, and boilers.

Location: Portland, OR – Onsite

• Perform service of equipment including inspecting and testing systems such as chillers, fan coils, water source heat pumps, tailored air handling units, rooftop units, cooling towers, and condenser tubes.
• Repair and replace defective equipment, components, or wiring.
• Maintain and inspect equipment to identify potential problems and prevent premature breakdowns.
• Perform intermediate and advanced independent diagnostics, troubleshooting, pipe fitting, and brazing.
• Conduct warranty service application by inspecting and testing systems.
• Educate customers on proper use of equipment, maintenance schedules, and operating manual usage.
• Lead and participate in the rebuild and retrofit of commercial HVAC units, directing apprentices through hands‑on demonstration.
• Record and report billing, inventory, timecards, technician tip reports, and other required documentation promptly.
• Download programs into HVAC equipment and microcontrollers, analyze chiller trend data for optimal performance.
• Participate in available training through regional technician trainers and off‑site learning modules.
• Maintain all required certifications and continue to develop new skill sets.
• Ensure standards, policies, procedures, and a clean work area are upheld.
• Complete job‑site hazard assessment before initiating service, and adhere to Daikin Applied & customer safety policies and OSHA guidelines.

• 5+ years related experience with increasing responsibility; or 7+ years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Accepted as Journeyman by the union.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Technical school with HVAC certificate or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to provide rotational emergency call support.
• Required license(s) and/or training card as required by local law district.
• Work visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

• Member of local union or willingness to join the union.
• Commercial HVAC industry experience.
• Experience mentoring less experienced technicians.
• OSHA 10 within 90 days of hire (Daikin provides training).
• Current first aid/CPR card.

The rate is subject to the amount outlined in the CBA and could change based on the level offered.
