. Portland Community College is the largest post‑secondary institution in Oregon and the 19th largest in the nation, serving approximately 80,000 full‑ and part‑time students. We are seeking a Landscape Technology Coordinator to support the Landscape Technology (LAT) program. The Coordinator works closely with faculty and students, manages the LAT greenhouse, and maintains equipment and outdoor learning spaces. The position requires strong problem‑solving skills, a collaborative spirit, and a commitment to supporting student success.

Responsibilities
  • Support LAT courses through purchasing supplies, setting up lab materials, and assisting with supervising labs and cleanup.
  • Perform and coordinate maintenance of LAT grounds, including weed management; obtain a pesticide applicator license within three months of hire as part of an IPM program.
  • Lead part‑time student workers and contractors who work in the LAT grounds.
  • Monitor building spaces for necessary maintenance to keep the learning areas clean, organized, and safe for staff and students.
  • Monitor greenhouse performance, including irrigation, heating, cooling, and pest management.
  • Purchase and perform routine maintenance on landscaping equipment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned, such as participating on a safety committee, and implement projects determined by the department.
Qualifications
  • Associates degree in Landscape Technology, Horticulture, or related discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • At least two years of experience working in the landscape industry, including maintenance, equipment troubleshooting, irrigation systems, or property management.
  • Ability to support students, labs, and workshops with safe facilities, tools, equipment, and hands‑on supervision.
  • Experience performing grounds management duties, scheduling seasonal tasks, and understanding plant and tool safety.
  • Experience organizing, maintaining, and keeping records associated with landscape equipment and facilities.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills; demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external departments and partners.
  • Proven problem‑solving ability and initiative.
  • Ability to obtain a pesticide applicator license within three months of hire.
