Diesel Mechanic

Position Description

Permanent full‑time mobile maintenance diesel technician supporting the Ryder truck fleet in Portland, Oregon. Mobile technicians are issued a Ryder mobile maintenance truck for service calls.

• Hourly pay $34.00
• Certification bonus $100 for each new ASE certification up to $700
• Quarterly bonus up to $500
• Schedule Monday–Friday; weekends OFF
• Paid time off starts at 80 hours per year

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two or more years of mechanical repair and diagnostics on heavy‑ or medium‑duty equipment
• Valid non‑commercial CDL class A or commercial driver license
• Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, and background check
• Must be able to drive Ryder vehicles and operate the provided mobile maintenance truck
• Strong customer service and communication skills

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy‑duty diesel vehicles
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, brake, electrical, and fuel system issues
• Conduct road tests to identify customer complaints and verify repair quality
• Maintain accurate repair order documentation using the company system
• Communicate with customers to explain maintenance needs and estimate costs
• Adhere to safety, DOT, and company policies
