General Job Description

The Senior Technician is a heavy equipment mechanic that specializes in the modernization and repair of cranes. This position may perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades; as well as solving complex problems when the crane malfunctions.

The role requires self‑sufficiency, leadership abilities, effective communication, and professionalism in order to lead field technicians and serve as the liaison between HCSG management and customers. The Technician works in a safety‑first environment. HCSG is a 24/7 service company that requires technicians to be available on‑call and to provide after‑hour or weekend services as required by customer needs.

• Must be available on‑call and provide after‑hour services as required.
• Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer locations.
• Train and mentor field technicians.
• Perform OSHA‑required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders.
• Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager during the day so that work can be scheduled and completed on a daily basis.
• Consult with customers regarding all repair and safety‑related issues and discuss recommendations that will help the customer improve their services.
• Maintain all company‑issued equipment, vehicle, and assets in a safe and proper working order.
• Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly. Notify immediate supervisor of any deficiencies.
• Maintain supplies of HCSG forms and miscellaneous materials in the company vehicle.
• Work effectively with others in a team environment.
• Attend company‑provided trainings and seminars as required.
• Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The work is labor intensive. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs daily and up to 100 lbs occasionally. Requires frequent climbing, balancing, stooping/crouching, overhead reaching, bending, squatting, and prolonged standing and sitting. Occasional pushing, pulling, kneeling, and crawling are also required. The position demands great hand‑and‑eye coordination. Heights exceeding 50 feet are normal to maintain a crane. The employee may need to travel 20–50% of the time and must be willing to work various shifts, including on‑call and overtime.

Travel out of town may also be required at the company's discretion.

Work is performed inside or outside (pending customer requirements) with varying degrees of extreme hot and cold temperatures. During summer months, temperatures can exceed 120°F. The position is frequently exposed to noise, heights, fumes, dust, and odors.

• At least 5–7 years of crane repair & maintenance experience.
• At least 3–4 years of electrical and/or mechanical experience can substitute for crane repair & maintenance experience.
• Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
• Must always commit to working and driving safely.
• Must be willing to work off the ground at various heights.
• Must have basic computer skills to work with web‑based crane inspection programs.
• Must be able to communicate well with others and work independently or as a team.
• Knowledge of hand tools and/or possession of hand tools.
• Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background (DISA) and submit to random and annual drug testing as required.
