Job Description
LSS Life Safety Services® specializes in the inspection, installation, and repair of fire and smoke dampers, fire doors, and fire barrier management services in commercial facilities across the United States. Responsibilities
- Inspect, install, and repair fire door frames, doors, locksets, latches, closers, strike plates, and associated hardware to meet NFPA code requirements.
- Fill holes in frames and doors, shim to correct clearances, and address latching and closing issues.
- Work with metal stud framing and drywall to shore up door frame repairs.
- Establish and execute a plan of action for door replacements throughout facilities in a time‑efficient manner.
- Operate hand tools (drill, screws, screwdrivers, tap & dye sets, sander, etc.) and use a laptop or tablet for progress documentation.
- Work independently or as part of a team; communicate effectively with coworkers and customers.
- Travels 100% of the time (10 days onsite, 4 days home) with lodging and transportation covered by the company.
Minimum Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in residential or commercial door and hardware installation/repair.
- Experience repairing/replacing doors and understanding construction drawings.
- Excellent client‑facing and internal communication skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Self‑starter who completes tasks efficiently with limited direction.
- Must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license, and pass a drug, background, TB, and flu vaccination test.
Additional Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of NFPA, ICC, and related codes (NFPA 80, 105, 101) as they relate to fire and smoke doors.
- Experience repairing/replacing fire and smoke doors in commercial facilities.
- Extensive knowledge of commercial fire door hardware and components.
- Ability to source proper fire‑rated door hardware to meet code compliance.
