HCSG is a 24/7 service company that requires technicians to be available on‑call and to provide after‑hour or even weekend services as required due to customer needs. This role is for a heavy‑equipment mechanic who specializes in the modernization and repair of cranes, using self‑sufficiency, leadership, effective communication, and professionalism to lead field technicians and serve as the liaison between HCSG management and customers.

As a Senior Technician you will perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repairs and upgrades for industrial hoists and cranes in the field at customer locations, and solve complex problems when cranes malfunction. You will train and mentor field technicians, conduct OSHA‑required inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders, and consult with customers regarding repair and safety issues.
Duties & Responsibilities- Be available on‑call and provide after‑hour services as required.
- Troubleshoot, repair, inspect, and upgrade industrial hoists and cranes at customer sites.
- Train and mentor field technicians.
- Conduct OSHA‑required hoist and crane inspections and generate inspection reports and repair orders.
- Communicate with the Service Manager and Branch Manager to schedule and complete work daily.
- Consult with customers on repair and safety issues, providing recommendations to improve services.
- Maintain all company‑issued equipment, vehicle, and assets in a safe and proper working condition.
- Operate tools, equipment, and vehicles safely and responsibly; notify supervisor of deficiencies.
- Maintain supplies of HCSG forms and miscellaneous materials in the company vehicle.
- Collaborate with team members in a team environment.
- Attend company‑provided trainings and seminars as required.
- Participate in the HCSG 5 Marks program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
The job is labor intensive and requires lifting up to 50 lbs daily and 100 lbs on occasion. You will often climb, balance, stoop/crouch, reach overhead, bend, squat, and stand/sit for prolonged periods. You may need to push, pull, kneel, crawl, and maintain great hand‑eye coordination. Work may involve heights exceeding 50 ft and exposure to noise, fumes, dust, and odors. Employee is expected to travel 20‑50 % of the time and work various shifts, including on‑call and overtime, across HCSG branches and customers.
WorkEnvironment
Work is performed inside or outside depending on customer requirements, with extreme temperatures (up to 120 °F in summer). The environment may be noisy, hot, cold, smoky, dusty, or otherwise hazardous.
Minimum Qualifications- At least 5‑7 years of crane repair & maintenance experience.
- At least 3‑4 years of electrical or mechanical experience in lieu of crane repair & maintenance experience.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Commitment to safe work and driving practices.
- Ability to work at various heights.
- Basic computer skills for web‑based crane inspection programs.
- Strong communication skills; able to work independently or in a team.
- Knowledge of hand tools and/or possession of hand tools.
- Vocational/Technical training certificate.
Must be able to pass a pre‑employment drug test and background (DISA) and submit to random and annual drug testing as required.
